Privacy Policy

The short version. Ruah Pulse has no account, no sign-in, no ads and no analytics. It collects nothing about you and sends nothing about you anywhere. Your heart rate never leaves your phone. The only thing the app asks the internet for is the text of a Bible verse.
The camera
When you check your pulse, the app turns on the torch and reads the light passing through your fingertip. Each frame is reduced to two numbers, the average red and the average green in the middle of the picture, and the frame itself is then discarded.
No photograph or video is created, saved, or transmitted. There is no photo output on the camera session at all, so there is nothing to save even by accident. The camera stops the moment a reading ends or you leave the screen.
Your heart rate
Your readings are stored on your phone alone, in the app's own storage, so the app can show you what you have been measuring. They are never uploaded. There is no server that belongs to this app, so there is nowhere for them to go.
You can erase them at any time in Settings. Deleting the app also deletes them.
What is sent over the internet
One thing: a request to the YouVersion Platform for the words of a verse. That request contains the reference, such as Isaiah 41:10, the translation, and the app's own key. It does not contain your heart rate, your name, your device identifier, or anything else about you.
YouVersion receives that request and can see it, as any service can see requests made to it. Their handling of it is covered by YouVersion's privacy policy.
What the app does not do
- No account, no email address, no password.
- No advertising, and no advertising identifiers.
- No analytics, no crash reporting, no tracking of any kind.
- No third-party software development kits.
- Nothing is sold or shared, because nothing is collected.
Children
The app collects nothing from anyone, of any age. There is no data about a child for it to hold, because there is no data about anyone.
Not a medical device
Ruah Pulse is not a medical device. It is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any condition, and its readings should not be used to make a decision about your health. If something about your heart concerns you, speak to a doctor.
Changes
If this policy ever changes, the date at the top of this page changes with it.
